Amazing tour – Visiting Seven Emirates
During my journeys to India and Pakistan, usually the plane made a stop-over somewhere for fuel. Once I had thus to stay a night in Abu Dhabi. The Amir of Abu Dhabi at that time was Munir Ahmad Sb. He did not only arrange for me to stay over in the home of Rehana and Anis Chaudhry, but I was also invited to a dinner.
I remember it because it was very tasty and I realize only a very good cook could have made it. I was told he had five children, but I only met his wife and two daughters. This family later moved back to Rabwah.
I had a very happy stay in Abu Dhabi. I was guided around by Rehana Chaudhry, and we became friends. Thus I went back again to visit them in Abu Dhabi, but after that I was interested in seeing some other places.
When I told about this, she urged me to come back and promised we would do whatever I wanted to if I just came back. After coming home to Sweden, I was thinking about this, pondering over what could be so special as to motivate me go back to Abu Dhabi a third time.
Suddenly it struck me that I had heard there were seven emirates in all, and I was so curious about them, so after some time I suggested we should go for a tour to see them all. I did not imagine it could be possible, but to my great astonishment Rehana said yes, okay, we will do that.
Thus I went again to Abu Dhabi in November 2006. On Tuesday the 22nd, Rehana took me for a weekend tour by car, just the two of us. We visited: Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Fujairah, Ras al-Khaimah and Umm al-Quwain. We also visitd Musandam, eg. the part of the Oman border with UAE which was open for visitors in those days.
We took a boat tour from Dibba. I was amazed to see the emerald green water and lots of big fish could be seen from the boat.
Rehana and her husband had arranged everything in advance, eg. everything from hotels to boat tours and I did not need to worry about anything at all.I particularly remember the Mall of the Emirates in Dubai, where one could go skiing indoors. It was amazing to see the white, snowy landscape – in the middle of the desert.
In UAE, ladies have their own parks and beaches and they have dedicated some days to be “ladies-only” days in the shopping malls, on ice rinks and during fairs and festivals.
The whole tour was one of the greatest adventures in all my life, and I will never forget it.
Now I regard Rehana as one of my closest friends, and when she and her husband moved to LA in USA, I visited them there a couple of times as well, And I always remain thankful to Allah for giving me such very loving and true friends.
