Hadhrat Mirza Nasir Ahmad, the Third Caliph
After the demise of the second Khalifa, Hadhrat Mirza Nasir Ahmad was elected the third khalifa of the Ahmadiyya Community.
He initiated several programs for development, a great number of schools and hospitals were built in West Africa, among other places. These are non-profitable and are only there to help the local population.
Under his leadership, the Ahmadiyya Community managed to build the first mosque in Spain since the Moors had been driven out from Spain some 700 years ago.
Hadhrat Mirza Nasir Ahmad, the third khalifa, was very important to me, since I signed Bai’at at his hands the 22nd of July 1967, e.g. the day after the inauguration of the Nusrat Djahan Mosque, Copenhagen, Denmark, which took place the 21st of July 1967.
He inaugurated the first Ahmadiyya mosque in Gothenburg, Sweden the 20th of August 1976, and after his wife had laid one foundation stone, he told me to lay one as well. A very great honour for me.
This mosque, the Nasir Mosque, was named after him.
I wrote this article about him and Freedom of Belief and Forgive and Turn the Other Cheek, in 1989 for the Aktiv Islam, Jubilee edition, printed 1990, see link below.
