Ahmadiyya in Sweden
– a Historical Review
Imam Kamal Yousuf was the very first Missionary in Scandinavia and he was sent here in 1956. The first Scandinavian Mission was opened in 1956 in Gothenburg, Sweden.
The very first Swedish member in the Ahmadiyya Jama’at was the Swedish convert Gunnar H. Eriksson, who got the Muslim name Saiful-Islam Mahmud, and he was later on given the title “Honorary Missionary” by the second Caliph.
The third Caliph visited Sweden and inaugurated the Mosque in Gothenburg, Sweden in 1973.
The fourth Caliph visited Sweden or the very first time in 1982. The first Swedish Majlis-i-Shura was held the same year.
